Warning: Heavy rain, flash floods
The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department on Tuesday issued a warning for people in the eastern part of the South to prepare for widespread scattered rain with heavy falls in some areas and the danger of floods from today to Dec 25.
People living near hillsides and waterways in Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat should prepare for heavy rain, flash flooding and possible landslides, it warned.
There will also be strong wind and high waves in the Gulf of Thailand. All shipping should proceed with caution and small boats should stay ashore from today to Dec 25, the department said.
