泰国旅游局与民间组织昨天（25日）宣布，本年度清迈音乐季将于3月8-10日举行。这项以传统与国际音乐艺术相融合的音乐盛会，将在以上3天的每天下午5时至晚上11时举行，地点为清迈市中心的原市署办事处广场。旅游局官员诺帕敦指出，本次清迈音乐季以「迈向东盟一体化」作为主题，广邀东盟各国艺人登台献艺。

曼谷呵叻线高铁 可望明年底动工
据泰国媒体20日报导，泰国首条高速铁路曼谷-呵叻府一线有望于2014年底动工，并于5年后完工。
泰国《民意报》援引运输交通政策及规划办事处曼谷-呵叻线高速铁路研究和设计项目管理者尼叻•丹萨瓦的话报导说，目前运输交通政策及规划办公室正在研究曼谷-呵叻府高铁项目的合理性并进行设计，预计将于2014年1月29日之前出台最后方案，并于2014年底动工，建设时间约5年。
尼叻说，曼谷-呵叻线的速度定为250公里/小时，全长256公里，共4个客站即大城府站、北标府站、呵叻府北冲县站和呵叻府站，票价将定为每公里平均2.5-3泰铢。预计全程用时约90分钟。
尼叻说，曼谷-呵叻线是泰国目前计画兴建的4条高铁线路之一。高速铁路将使泰国的公共运输使用率提高至60%，乘客人数每天不低于4万人次，其中每列高速列车载客量为800人，相当于20辆公共汽车，有助于长期提高运行效率。高铁将采用电力驱动，泰国电力局将保证稳定供电，每年可降低超过60亿泰铢的能源成本。
尼叻还透露，泰国高铁铁轨将使用宽度为1.435米的世界标准轨距，目前已有多个国家向交通部提供技术方案供参考。

泰国长途客运公司总经理挽猜昨天（20日）表示，该公司将从今天（21日）起开通两条曼谷通往柬埔寨的客运路线，分别是：曼谷-阿兰亚巴拉贴-波贝-暹粒路线，以及曼谷-阿兰亚巴拉贴-波贝-金边路线。相信上述两条客运路线的开通，将给泰柬两国带来经济和旅游方面的便利。
挽猜指出，曼谷-阿兰亚巴拉贴-波贝-暹粒路线总长424公里，全程7小时。路线开通初期，两地起始点每天各开出1趟客车，曼谷发车时间为每天早上9时，而暹粒则是早上8时，全程总票价为750铢或25美元每趟。
至于第2条路线，即曼谷-阿兰亚巴拉贴-波贝-金边路线总长719公里，全程11小时。开通初期，两地起始点也是每天各开出1趟车，曼谷发车时间为每天早上8时15分，而金边则是早上7时，全程总票价900铢或30美元每趟。挽猜透露，在去年12月29日曾试行开通上述两条路线，但由于柬方准备不足，经双方协商后，暂时停行，直到今天才正式启动上述两条路线。

Bangkok-Cambodia buses launched
The first buses directly connecting Thailand and Cambodia left Bangkok on Thursday, headed for Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, with the launch of a regular service to bolster tourism and economic ties between the two countries.
The first airconditioned bus from Bangkok to Phnom Penh left Mor Chit terminal, followed by the first bus to Siem Reap, the Transport Co announced.
The state company made a test-run on the two routes on Dec 29, 2012, but the service was not launched because "Cambodia was not ready for it", Transport Co managing director Wutthichart Kalayanamitr said in a statement.
The two countries are now running a daily service between the two destinations.
The bus to Phnom Penh leaves the Thai capital at 8.15am and the return trip is at 7am. The fare is 900 baht, or US$30. The 719 kilometre trip takes 11 hours.
The Siem Reap line departs Bangkok at 9am and the return service leaves the Cambodian town at 8am. Siem Reap is the home of two major tourist attractions, Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. The fare is 750 baht, or US$25, for the 424km trip, which takes seven hours.
The two routes enter Cambodia through Aranyaprathet district in Sa Kaeo.
Transport Co also runs a service to Vientiane, the Lao capital, and Pak Se in southern Laos.

The Civil Aviation Department will fund a study on the extension of the runway at Trang airport as part of a gradual upgrading to accommodate more passengers, but actual construction may take a few years, Trang MP Somboon Uthaiwienkul said.
Mr Somboon said the department had recently informed him 10 million baht will be allocated in fiscal year 2014 to study the extension of the runway from 2,100m to 3,000m.
An additional budget would be allocated in fiscal year 2015 for an environment impact assessment of the planned runway extension.
The department recognised the necessity to upgrade the airport to accommodate increasing passenger traffic and the possibility that larger aircraft would operate into the airport in future.
Air Asia and Nok Air each plan to increase services to Trang to six flights a day, Mr Somboon said. This would lift passenger numbers to over 300,000 a year.
He said expansion of the airport woud improve safety and help stimulate tourism in the province.
Mr Somboon said two other projects for the development of the airport were already in the works.
For the fiscal year 2013 to 2014, the airport will add another taxiway and expand ground services to handle up to four large aircraft, like the Boeing 737. It can currently hanbdle only two large aircraft at a time. This would cost and estimated 95 million baht. The bidding process was already underway.
The passenger terminal and other facilities would also be improved, with 64 million baht budgeted for fiscal 2014-2015. This would double capacity, to accommodate 600 passengers per hour, up from 300 an hour.

彭世洛府【Phitsanulok】府尹毕差与总理顾问苏川及相关部门负责人昨天（13日）举行新闻发布会，宣布该府将于本月22-24日在荣誉公园举办年度元宵节灯会，该活动旨在促进该府旅游业，推动经济发展，并为迎接2015年东盟经济共同体做准备。
毕差指出，由于本月24日将是正月15元宵节，该府按照中华文化传统举办灯会，并举行游行活动，内容包括游龙舞狮、福禄寿神吉祥游行队伍、彩灯编队等等。此外将举办元宵灯会历史展、中国文化表演、少林武术表演、元宵花灯选美赛以及展销中国美食等活动。
毕差表示，元宵节是一个很好的文化传统，节日当天家家户户都在家门前挂上大红灯笼，同时还会准备丰富的晚宴。该灯会将促进中华文化遗产的传承，进而促使人民团结，此外还将促进该府旅游业的发展。

近年来，泰国已成为中国人出境游的最佳选择，今年在电影「泰囧」的推动下，预计春节假期期间，将有10万左右中国游客赴泰旅游。而对中国游客来说，购物从来都是一项不可或缺的旅游行程之一。
泰国的丝绸、香薰、香皂以及一些手工艺品一直是国人青睐的购买目标，因为中国人习惯出门旅游带纪念品回家送人或自己留作纪念，因此这些体积小、便于携带且价格适中的小礼品成为不二选择。另外，由于越来越多的服装品牌在泰国设厂，因此一些国内价格高昂的品牌在泰国要便宜得多，自然也成为中国人的购物首选。
「来泰国旅游除了参观、游览外，购物也是一个重要项目，」来自北京的袁女士在曼谷市中心暹罗典范商场购物时对记者说，「但是我也只买用的到的和有特色的，绝对不会盲目购物。」
袁女士在赴泰前通过上网查询，得知某一内衣品牌和某一牛仔裤品牌在泰国售卖的价格是中国的一半，因此特意找到这两个品牌在PARAGON的专卖店，购买了数件服装。
泰国智库开泰研究中心研究报告表明，如今中国游客消费水准档次较高，在泰国旅游的平均日消费已达到4600泰铢。泰国各大百货公司已注意到购买力越来越强的中国游客，早在春节到来前就准备了一系列促销活动吸引中国游客。记者在曼谷尚泰购物中心看到，商场用300个红灯笼装点通道，并在春节前夕举行了大规模的中国文化巡游活动，商场内也到处悬挂有「中国新年促销」的标识。
虽然中国人在泰国盲目购物的比例并不大，但记者发现，由于网上炒作，泰国佛牌从去年起在中国流行起来，因此很多年轻游客来泰国旅游时会「请」佛牌，或祝愿平安，或祈求姻缘，有的不惜花费高昂费用。然而通过记者了解，佛牌本身材质并不昂贵，价格则因制作年份和寺庙的不同而定，因此购买者还需谨慎，不要上当受骗。

5th Thai-Lao bridge planned
5th Thai-Lao bridge planned
Plans for construction of a 5th Thai-Lao friendship bridge across the Mekong River, between Bung Kan province of Thailand and Pak Sane town of Bolikhamxai province if Laos, will be raised for discussion when Transport Minister Chadchat Suttipunt visits Laos on Feb 21.
Mr Chadchat said he will meet Vietiane's Minister of Communications, Transport, Post and Construction, Sommat Phonsena, and discuss the bridge plan.
The proposed bridge would not only connect the transport networks in the region but also boost the expansion of trade and investment between neighbouring countries.
The Highway Department is making a feasibility study of the Bung Kan - Pak Sane bridge, which would cost an estimated two billion baht, he said.
About 40 million baht would be set aside for the design of the bridge, with construction expected to begin in 2016 if agreement is reached.
There are now four Thai - Lao friendship bridges linking Nong Khai - Vientiane, Mukdahan - Savannakhet, Nakhon Phanom - Khammouane, and Chiang Khong - Huay Sai. The fourth expected to be opened in the middle of this year.

Ubon Candle Festival 乌汶蜡烛节
Ubon's biggest event is the Candle Festival, held in early July on Khao Phansa day, which marks the beginning of the rainy season retreat. During three months, monks do not leave their temple, unless for an emergency, and lay people vow to abstain from taking alcohol as well as to refrain from any negative action. Huge wax candles are displayed in Thung Si Muang park, which are carried around town in a procession the next morning.
Ubon Ratchathani
Ubon Ratchathani (อุบลราชธานี) is a city in Isaan, Thailand. Often referred to as simply Ubon (อุบล), it should not be confused with "Udon" to the north.
Ubon was founded on the northern bank of the Mun River by a group of Lao princes fleeing Vientiane in the late 1700s. They applied for King Taksin's protection, duly granted in 1779 along with the city's new name, meaning "Royal City of the Lotus". Modern-day Ubon was a U.S. air base during the Vietnam War and grew rapidly at the time, but little has happened since then. The town of Warin Chamrap, on the south bank of the river, is effectively a suburb of Ubon these days.
The sleepy Ubon office of the Tourist Authority of Thailand (264/1 Khuan Thani Road) is worth a visit to pick up useful English maps of the town and nearby provinces. Basic English spoken. Open daily 08:30-16:30.
Get in by plane
The grandly named Ubon Ratchathani International Airport (IATA: UBP), (ICAO: VTUU) in reality serves only flights to Bangkok most of the year. Thai Airways has two daily non-stop flights between Bangkok and Ubon and return. NokAir has three daily non-stop flights between Bangkok Don Muaeng Airport and Ubon and return. Air Asia has two daily non-stop flights between Bangkok and Ubon and return year-round. AirAsia operates 3 weekly flights between Phuket and Ubon from October to March and between Chiang Mai and Ubon from November to March. Flight time is 50 minutes in Airbus A320 or Boeing 737 aircraft.
The airport is at the northern edge of the city almost within walking distance, but accommodation is scattered around Ubon, so better not to consider walking. Much better to go to one of the two limousine (taxi) counters that are located in the airport arrivals hall and purchase for only 100 baht a taxi coupon that will take you to almost any point in the city. Limousine (taxi) rates in Ubon are extremely cheap by Western standards and lower than those in Bangkok. Set prices have been established to most destinations in and around Ubon.
A taxi from Ubon to Chong Mek costs only 1,000 baht for the 90 km one way trip and a taxi from Ubon to Mukdahan costs 2,000-2,500 baht (depending on the vehicle type) to travel a one way distance of 192 km. The driver does not charge for the return trip like some western countries. There are no taxi meters and the fare must normally be purchased from one of the two taxi counters at the airport arrivals desk.
If you prefer not to take a fixed price taxi, you can always walk the 200 m beyond the general airport parking area to haggle with the waiting tuk-tuk drivers, but chances are that your trip will end up costing you more.

在蛇年春节即将到来之际，座落在曼谷市中心暹罗典范广场（PARAGON）将于2月4-18日隆重推出热带雨林蛇类展。而附近的曼谷杜莎夫人蜡像馆也将展出香港国际巨星成龙蜡像，以渲染华人春节喜庆气氛。
据悉，PARAGON海洋世界为迎接春节，创意推出热带雨林区，并在区内展现各种蛇类，包括世界珍稀品种黄森蚺蛇、能吃蛇及抗各种蛇毒的「大王蛇」、喜欢吃啮齿动物的玉米蛇。此外还有各种蟒蛇，例如绿树蟒、红尾蟒以及球蟒等等。
至于附近的「发现号商场」杜莎夫人蜡像馆也将展出香港国际武术巨星成龙蜡像，他曾经在100多部电影中出演不同角色，并成功打造出系列王牌电影，例如尖峰时刻、红番区及上海正午等。

泰国旅游局巴蜀【Prachuab Khiri Khan】区办事处将开发并推介该府一座「红石沙滩」，作为该府的十大新景点，并加强向观光客宣传，吸引游客游览这座长约8公里的奇景海滩。
旅游区巴蜀府办事处主任纳拉默指出，这座奇特地貌海滩座落在挽沙攀诺县赛通镇，其特殊之处在于拥有长达8公里的红石崖和红色沙滩，而且布满了红免鹅卵石，当地民众称该地点为「红岸滩」，属特殊地貌自然观光景点。
纳拉默指出，该红石沙滩聚集了大量呈红色的沙石，拥有10万年以上地貌历史，红色沙石的沉积厚度约为10米。巴蜀府旅游局将与当地政府联手展开宣传，并把该沙滩开发成为该府十大新景点之一，包括在进入景点的各条公路设指示牌，引导自驾游观光客到该地点旅游。
