Northern train line reopened
The State Railway of Thailand says the northern line in Lampang province has reopened to services after repairs were completed to tracks damaged by a freight train derailment on Thursday morning.
The agency said it had tested the safety of the line between Pang Puay and Mae Moh stations after the derailed carriage was put back on the track.
The train was delivering concrete sleepers from Kaeng Koi railway station in Saraburi province to Lamphun station when a carriage jumped the tracks near kilometre marker 596 at 6.17am.
It is the third accident to occur on the northern line in three days. A passenger train derailed twice on Tuesday, in Lamphun province and then in Lampang province. No passengers were injured.
