Storm killed one, hit 15 provinces

Tropical storm Nock-Ten had killed one person but affected more than 179,000 people in 15 provinces over the four days its impact was felt, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department said on Wednesday.

Director-general Wiboonpong Sanguanpong said the tropical storm caused heavy downpours in the North and upper Northeast, with flooding in 15 provinces.

One person was killed in an accident related to the storm in southern Udon Thani province.

Altogether, over 179,000 people from 40,000 families in 97 districts of the 15 provinces had been affected.

The floods damaged 217 houses, 29,500 rai of farmland, 264 roads, 20 local dams and 29 bridges, Mr Wiboonpong said.
